On March 17, 2011, Dr. John Shuttleworth and Professor Giuseppe De Vito from the School of Public Health and Population Sciences, University College Dublin, visited the College of Education at Zhejiang University. During their visit They engaged in many discussions and gave wonderful presentation.
Professor Yu Kehong, vice dean of the College of Education, Professor Lin Xiaomei, director of the Department of Physical Education, Associate Professor Zhou Yongping, Dr. Zhou Lijun, Associate Professor Zhou Qingzhi and Professor Wang Jian gave a warm welcome to their visitors. In a joyful atmosphere, Dr. Zhou Lijun introduced the structure of the College of Education and the cultivation of students in the department, as well as international exchange programs. The two sides exchanged opinions on the exchange of students and teachers, associated training of graduate students and research cooperation. Primary agreements have reached between the two sides.
At 1:30 p.m., the two professors gave presentations in the meeting room of the Department of Physical Education on topics of MSC sports management and marketing, viral sponsorship, as well as exercise and diabetes. Undergraduate students majoring in sports management, as well as graduate students and doctors attended the presentation. They all had benefited greatly from the knowledgeable and interesting content presented in the professors’ lectures.
UCD is the Republic of Ireland's largest, and Ireland's second largest, university, with over 1,300 faculty and 17,000 students. It is located in Dublin, the Irish capital, and ranks in the top 5% of the best universities in the world. The visit of the two professors has built foundation for further cooperation between two sides. UCD is also another university which has intention to cooperate with the Department of Physical Education in addition to Seoul National University, University of Northern Iowa and The Hong Kong Institute of Education.
