After two lectures, on April 26th, Professor Han Soonghee gave another presentation entitled “Schooling in the Lifelong Learning Society: Some Images.” This lecture was chaired by Associate Professor Kan Yue. Many graduate students and Ph.D students attended the lecture.
Through the presentation of different images, Professor Han showed schooling in the lifelong learning society. Firstly, the lecture brought up points on the understanding of new knowledge,the analysis of “Complexity and Chaos”, and industrial-age assumptions of learning and schools. Secondly, he explained knowledge revolution, economic influence and new features of knowledge. Thirdly, Professor Han compared the modern and postmodern knowledge systems and put forward some relevant questions, such as “What is educational purpose and how could it be justified? Who are learners? What is curriculum for? How should learning institutions be organized? How should teachers teach” Finally, he summarized the Trinity of new school platforms.
After a short break, Professor Han shared other images of the speech and discussed knowledge and lifelong learning for individuals and schools, which impressed and greatly benefited students and faculty.
