A delegation from the Department of Physical Education, Zhejiang University visited some world renowned universities in Ireland and England, signing agreements with the School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Population Science.
The first stop of the visit was UCD. Dr. Alex Metcalfe, director of the International Office briefly introduced recent achievements in the aspects of scientific research and social service. After signing the agreements with the School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Population Science, UCD, the delegates visited the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland and the Applied Language Center to seek possibilities for more student and faculty visits to UCD.
The delegation also visited the University of Bath, which ranked number 3 in the university ranking in 2013 university rankings, and which serves as one of the five training camps for Olympic athletes. The delegates had a good talk with professors from related departments about the research collaboration, student exchange programs, etc. The last stop was the University of Worcester, which is one of the most rapidly developing universities in the UK, and Professor Mick Donovan and Professor Gareth Jones from the Sports and Exercise Institute Showed the delegation around the sport facilities, laboratories and introduced their related research.
The delegation from the Department of Physical Education learned much from these universities such as how to cultivate elite athletes, how to do scientific research focusing on practical problems, and finally, how to accelerate the pace of internationalization.
